We've been composting since the beginning of April here at Harrison's (read about our initiatives here), and we were happy to receive an update on our efforts recently:
During the first two weeks alone, Harrison's contributed a total of 1,620 pounds of organic waste to the Borough's composting program. At this rate, we'll be contributing over 42,000 pounds of organics annually! That's 21 tons of material that is not ending up in landfills, instead becoming nutrient rich compost used by local farmers, including our partner farm, Green Heron. Our general waste has decreased dramatically, and we hope to only increase our compostables in the future!
